Journey to Financial Freedom Update

We reached a milestone this month. Our last credit card is completely paid off, and this month we are also going to be paying off our car loan. That will leave only student loans and our mortgage left, which will be easier to pay down now since we have fewer payments!

We also rewarded ourselves for this milestone, and purchased a DVD Camcorder and new DVD player. I like the reward part of this plan!

Josh got a promotion at work last month, and Tamara is raking in the cash with her new job as a cake decorating instructor for Wilton here in Sioux Falls at the Hobby Lobby. We almost have enough saved up to pay for the medical expenses when the baby comes in August. We hope to have 2 of the smaller student loans knocked out by around then too. This debt snowball just keeps on rolling faster and faster.

It's weird to look back on our financial position just 2 years ago, and even though progress has seemed slow at times, it's been consistently in the right direction. It reminds me of climbing a mountain using switchbacks instead of rock climbing. It may be slow going at times, but reaching the goal is inevitable if you just keep doing the simple task of putting one foot in front of the other.
