Financial Freedom Update - September 2007
In September, we paid off about $535 in debt, and increased our net worth by $1326.
We paid medical bills of $451 for new ear molds for Mazaryk, the last rental payment of a breast pump from the hospital, and a checkup with shots for Draven. Citibank messed up the beneficiary paperwork when I added Draven to the medical plan, so I had to go out and buy a major medical health care insurance plan for him just in case something big happened, but the normal stuff like this was out of pocket. That's fixed now, as I've changed companies and everyone is covered under the new plan.
It was Mazaryk's birthday so we budgeted some money for that. We did a double payment on Tamara's student loans (I'm not sure if I messed up or if the company did). Since we're a few payments ahead, our next payment isn't due until December, so we're going to use the extra money in October and November towards our immediate goals of saving for the trip to California and getting rid of our last credit card balance.
October is going to be a little less income than usual, just due to the job change where I'm switching from no lag in the pay period to a 1 week lag. It still looks like we'll have an extra $700 or so to put towards the trip to California. If all goes well, we should have that saved for by the end of November, and in December we should be able to chunk away 1/2 of our remaining credit card debt, with a full payoff in January. By April, we'll have our last car debt paid off. Our debt snowball will have massive traction by that time due to all the monthly payments we've gotten rid of over the last 20 months. Next in line will be student loans, and finally the house.
